Interesting Chamber Networking Breakfast
7am is usually too early for me, but well worth responding to the alarm this morning, presenters covered lots of interesting information that we in the Whitsundays shoud all hear about, held at Peppers Resort here's what I took away from the meeting...
Cruise Ship Ambassadors -They need everyones help to continue to keep the interest in the ships coming to Airlie Beach, 38 ships this year which brings 10's of thousands of visitors to Airlie and surrounds. It can be as low as 12 per year if the interest isn't there and other towns present a more interesting and valuable experince. The Cuise Ship Ambassadors spend their time volunteering to help the visitors around Airlie and make their experience easy enjoyable.
Whitsunday Coast Airport - The Whitsunday Regional Council Director, Scott Waters said the WRC is preparing the infastructure to facilitate the future potential international flights, including a longer runway and another terminal. New Zealand being the first destination on the list which will bring NZ travellers to the Whitsundays and also provides the ability for larger planes with extra cargo space for Bowen and surrounds produce to be flown direct to NZ as well as Sydney and Melbourne, and of course other international destinations.
National and Global Financial Review - I love tables, graphs and data, I soaked up as much as I could with the speedy presenter from NAB Brisbane office. Even though the data shows the major lows Australia and the World have experienced, he believes things are looking up in Australia and we just need to be confident to move on an continue to recover.
Thanks Chamber for providing another networking opportunity that is pleasant and informative.
